Margate Bloke trudges through the waffle of modern life

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nj5DeKlcZ8U/VKuckNtLEbI/AAAAAAAACWo/5DimWV4CSJs/s1600/Screenshot_2015-01-05-14-14-34.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nj5DeKlcZ8U/VKuckNtLEbI/AAAAAAAACWo/5DimWV4CSJs/s1600/Screenshot_2015-01-05-14-14-34.png" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
A stroll through Margate, in bracing weather, just the thing, after the peak Christmas festivities.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
New Years day a bit of an anticlimax but one that gives the godless amongst us a focus of celebration.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A gander at the wonders contained in the Turner Contemporary, to clear the mind and lift the spirits.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So how sad, to come across a blood stained footpath, even sadder as I point out to my partner so as to avoid getting blood on their shoes, being interrupted by helpful, innocent young kids who casually detail another stabbing, just as if it's a normal ordinary occurrence.<br />
<br />
It makes you think just how will Thanet ever climb out of the mire, still it's not all bad, there was a nice fresh breeze, to carry away the smell of cannabis, the drug of choice for those on a budget and frightened of a days work.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Margate Blokehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00080094594178633947noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283374124148998952.post-31588134065416390962014-08-18T16:00:00.001+01:002014-08-19T15:47:11.055+01:00Charity begins at Home<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8A1gsqsFXaA/U_IPkOVPuXI/AAAAAAAAAHc/UEYtBmcGDRg/s1600/pink.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8A1gsqsFXaA/U_IPkOVPuXI/AAAAAAAAAHc/UEYtBmcGDRg/s1600/pink.JPG" height="197" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Or rather the letterbox and while it may begin at home, it appears it could well finish some considerable distance from my front door, with the clothes in Kenya or Poland and the money in Lithuania.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm amazed at the amount of post and mail that comes through the door the majoprity of it being junk every day, it seems someone is offering to make me bigger than I already am, with pizzas, kebabs, Chinese takeaway, or fried chicken added to the dross often a bag for a charity will be left on the doormat some of which are a little ambiguous if you ask me,the one illustrated to the top of this post is a case in point.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do not delay! collection for "breast cancer prevention" emotive stuff and ribbon logo which is a very emotive because my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So I take this a bit of post a little more seriously, further reading makes it clear that a commercial company will be collecting the clothes and they state that the project will receive at least £100 for every tonne of clothes collected but not less than £2000 per month. Sounds good but doesn't really clarify how much goes to Charity.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Still this got me thinking how much is a ton of clothes worth and reading an article in the financial Times from 2012 it appears at that time such commodity was worth £650 per ton so I just wonder what happens to £550 the company doesn't guarantee to Charity.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway delving a little more I visited the company's website where apparently they mention that they are a member of the <a href="http://www.frsb.org.uk/">Fund Raising Standards Board</a> sounds good but then as with so many of these bodies it happens to be one of those self-regulatory organisations, paid for by those it regulates.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think businesses raising money for charity ought to have a clear indication of how much of their turnover results in funds in the pockets of charities if I were they were to say that a clear percentage* went to a charity we could make clear choice.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kShK_IxKMUI/U_IP0iKqDbI/AAAAAAAAAHk/A0-crcltkBs/s1600/heart%2Bcol.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: justify;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kShK_IxKMUI/U_IP0iKqDbI/AAAAAAAAAHk/A0-crcltkBs/s1600/heart%2Bcol.JPG" height="200" width="109" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway I rang the trade or charity organisation FRSB that regulates this sort of business and have been told that the gentleman who deals with this such matters will be back tomorrow.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today I received a sticker for Heart UK not the most well know charity, who use the same firm, again making a vague statement of how much will go to charity, a couple of days after the <a href="http://www.bhf.org.uk/#&panel1-1">British Heart Foundation</a> left a collection bag. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
No doubt everything is above board, but if you believe charity begins at home it's probably best to drop off donations directly to charity shops. Rather than arrange to have stuff picked up by a business with and proceeds going overseas to charity which you,ve probably never heard.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Don't get me wrong business is business, and they probably collect more donations for charity, than might otherwise be the case, and the clothes collected are generally sold off to the third world, but that said lets make sure charities get the most out of the deal.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
*Finally <a href="http://www.frsb.org.uk/donors/advice/">FRSB recommends</a> "There should also be clear information about what proportion of the proceeds will go to the charity" The company issuing these bags as per picture give only a vague indication.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://www.charitybags.org.uk/index.htm">Charity Bags Web Site with all you need to know about bag collections and where to stick them.</a></div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FwXwUpFyf3g/U-0AO8jhlAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/-7labNSoNZo/s1600/clocktower.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FwXwUpFyf3g/U-0AO8jhlAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/-7labNSoNZo/s1600/clocktower.JPG" height="257" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The <a href="http://www.thanet.gov.uk/the-thanet-magazine/press-releases/2014/august/chief-executive-of-visit-england-visits-margate/">boss of VisitEngland has toured Margate</a> to witness the developments since the arrival of Turner contemporary I myself did a similar thing today at lunchtime when I popped out to get a newspaper</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unlike the supremo from visit-England James Beresford I represent nobody but myself. That said I'm sure we are all equally important in this little world and my first impression of Margate today coming in from the Badlands of Cliftonville was that the place continues to be run down and probably more menacing than it ever has been. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l3vjgDY8tAQ/U-z_cQsdqAI/AAAAAAAAAHE/afQ0cBRejSo/s1600/Development%2Bpotential.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l3vjgDY8tAQ/U-z_cQsdqAI/AAAAAAAAAHE/afQ0cBRejSo/s1600/Development%2Bpotential.JPG" height="200" width="149" /></a>My first impression was about as bad as it can be, coming into the old shopping centre round the back of the council offices desperate, I think is the word and desolate the area is empty apart from a lone dog tied up to the railings by the public toilets the shops mainly closed the bank empty for many a year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Needing to use the toilet I was rather disconcerted to hear voices as I was taking a leak, emanating from the cubicle behind me, as you can imagine quite an unsettling atmosphere, God knows what was going on because I didn't wanna stay and listen but that seems nothing unusual in Margate, probably just sharing a needle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All part of our diverse culture I suppose the High Street is as ever downhill with the recent addition of a burnt out building to complement other burnout buildings nearby.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Having time on my side, I thought I would buy a newspaper and some lunch, which I did and then went to the gardens, just above the clock tower and in front of Giorgio's to enjoy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unlike the Chief Executive of visit England I am already familiar with the wonderful new facilities that Margate has which range from the Turner Centre, the beach ball area and Dreamland rising from the ashes, so I concentrated on the people who presumably have taken advice and inspiration from the quality newspapers, like the Telegraph Guardian Times and Independent and decided to soak up the atmosphere along with a humble bloke such as myself in Margate </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TCZrX05-dq8/U-z-CUc9r-I/AAAAAAAAAG8/ET_4p-JraVI/s1600/nosey%2Bthanet.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: justify;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TCZrX05-dq8/U-z-CUc9r-I/AAAAAAAAAG8/ET_4p-JraVI/s1600/nosey%2Bthanet.JPG" height="200" width="125" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I cannot tell you how pleasing it is to wallow in the ambience exuding from our guests from the metropolis and further afield a real cosmopolitan crowd in Margate, I must say how surprising it is, to see these middle class readers guzzle strong larger, and I know Guardian readers are bound to be a bit scruffy but tattoes and "statement" dogs? </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Slightly unnerving I seemed to attract the attention of Thanet Councils security cameras as I walked through the Centre, why me, why not those Bliming toffs, the council could surely photograph them enjoying booze and drugs.</div>
Margate Blokehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00080094594178633947noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283374124148998952.post-26554808250444933632014-08-13T00:35:00.000+01:002014-08-13T00:56:56.507+01:00LET'S SORT'EM OUT ! Thanet Council Rubbish Alert<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9-cI3z5APYw/U-qUEZB719I/AAAAAAAAAGs/smbkBMoBI5U/s1600/rubbish%2Bcollections.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9-cI3z5APYw/U-qUEZB719I/AAAAAAAAAGs/smbkBMoBI5U/s1600/rubbish%2Bcollections.JPG" height="200" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Thanet Council despite a sh t storm in the local media last week have yet to apologise for their abysmal treatment of local taxpayers, as you might expect, it looks like Thanet's mediocracy our leaders such as Cllr Mike Harrison have shown little grip on recycling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Cllr Harrison (Cabinet member for rubbish and operational stuff) stated that “Thankfully the majority of residents do contain their recycling appropriately" which begs the question why did bin men leave most recycle bins un-emptied last week.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Still bin men, seem to have a new tactic in hacking off residents, usually my bin doesn't get emptied till late morning, however in a new terror tactic this morning they sneaked up the road about three hours early, blighter's, and I doubt I was the only one to miss out on the collection.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Maybe Cllr Mike Harrison is trying to emulate the appalling performance of his predecessor Cllr Alan Poole who oversaw the chaos last Christmas when some of us had rotting food and rubbish festering for weeks, just as side issue I see Poole who flounced out of the Labour after he and a friend got the old tin tack from the cabinet flounced back into the Labour party, I imagine Poole's done the maths and realises that nobody, in there right mind would vote for him in next years as an independent.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Any way let's sort'em them out, Labour are flipping useless, they can't sort themselves out! they can't sort out Ramsgate Harbour, they've struggled to sort out Pleasurama, the EKO scandal, they proved they can't handle the finances giving away multi-millions Transeuropa another million for ignoring advice not to block animal exports, wasted millions on the East Kent Access road, damned Manston airport with feint praise and are burying it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Give Labour the tin tack in next years local elections don't vote for them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><a href="http://www.thanetgazette.co.uk/Bin-workers-spat-street-recycling-row-escalates/story-22218987-detail/story.html">This report in the Gazette gives some incite into the abysmal management of waste</a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
Margate Blokehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00080094594178633947noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283374124148998952.post-55474695994111164422014-08-06T18:16:00.002+01:002014-08-07T13:41:45.620+01:00Thanet council punish local residents and dump bin collections<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S5czP50P5yk/U-Jh3_12FPI/AAAAAAAAAGc/sN8gKfx6tmo/s1600/Clr+bin+man.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S5czP50P5yk/U-Jh3_12FPI/AAAAAAAAAGc/sN8gKfx6tmo/s1600/Clr+bin+man.JPG" height="177" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thanet council is never afraid to bite the hand that feeds, whether it be Manston Airport, Ramsgate Eastcliff development or the campaign they are running this week to force residents to comply with there strict waste management scheme</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Last week thanet council publicised <a href="http://thanet.gov.uk/the-thanet-magazine/press-releases/2014/july/recycling-approach/">their concerns about refuse collections </a>and how far as recycling was concerned they did not think the public were cooperating.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
TDC issued a press release on the matter indicated that it was aware of problems with recycling waste for some time but has allowed local residents some leeway after system was introduced at the start of the year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As with many things the council has unfortunately allowed a problem to develop into a major crisis, such as we have seen it with Ramsgate Harbour, the Eastcliff development and EKO.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Instead of politely reminding residents of a problem by perhaps attaching a letter to bins advising that recycling bins were not correctly filled, power crazed local officials have decided rather than manage the situation in a respectful way, instead power crazed (IMHO) as usual they've decided to cause maximum irritation, firstly by not emptying in bins, then attaching an insulting label which cannot be removed presumably to forever brand wrong doers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I' m not blaming those who have to collect the bins, but I do think that those who manage our refuse are not up to the job, as many of us remember, from the end of last year many had to wait upto three or four weeks despite endless misinformation from officers and councillors.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I took a stroll this week after Thanet bin men had paid a flying visit and estimate that perhaps 50% of bins had been left behind, imagine that many like myself assumed we'd sorted it the rubbish correctly.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Should we residents who pay the wages and allowances of officers like McGonigal, Homer (boss while the other one's <strike>suspended</strike> sorry on leave) or councillors like Johnson and Mike Harrison, expect a little better treatment.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Take Cllr Mike Harrison, back in 2012 the Labour party gave him a second chance after <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9312327/Councillor-disciplined-for-dubbing-rival-a-shirt-lifter.html"><span style="color: red;">the great "shirt lifter" incident</span></a>, and now he's back as cabinet member for operational services, laying down the law</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Since the start of the scheme the council has allowed some time for residents to adjust to the changes to their collections and has taken a more relaxed approach, but we now need to stick more rigidly to our rules. This essentially means that if items are not put in the right container, the recycling will not be collected. <span style="color: red;">(Margate bloke says)</span> "why didn't you instead of taking a relaxed approach, take business like approach and leave a leaflet with the bins explaining any problems?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“This is not an attempt to inconvenience our residents, but is a necessary measure to ensure that the efforts of those who do recycle correctly are not wasted. I hope that residents will understand that by taking what may seem to be a tougher approach, we will ultimately see much wider benefits for Thanet. ” <span style="color: red;">(Margate bloke says)</span> "Why the heck inconvienience people why not have reminded them during the last 8mths</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To sum up Labour introduce the current waste management, from the outset it was an almighty flipping cock up, led by that former? Labour bod Poole, if you ask me Labour councillors from Aldred through to Worrow and Harrison in the middle are only in it for one reason and it ain't you or I. I'm surprised that bin men have the time to forensically examine the bins, still anything is possible with authoritarian Labour.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
Margate Blokehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00080094594178633947noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283374124148998952.post-39586701280596997882014-06-22T13:03:00.002+01:002014-06-22T13:03:24.968+01:00Scobie attacks his own party policy<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QYEnJEdT_Q4/U6bCDlx0IpI/AAAAAAAAAFo/q2JIsjhXH-c/s1600/How+many+wise+monkeys.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QYEnJEdT_Q4/U6bCDlx0IpI/AAAAAAAAAFo/q2JIsjhXH-c/s1600/How+many+wise+monkeys.JPG" height="155" width="320" /></a></div>
A key policy of the last Labour government education was firmly attacked when Will Scobie spoke during the Ellington and Hearson school debate, Labours young general election candidate condemned tuition fees, saying that they " encapsulate so much that is wrong with this country".<br />
<br />
Not sure who he thinks should pay for his education, but it was his future Labour colleagues, that loaded him with his debt, but on the positive side he will no doubt, earn more that the average local resident, (even the freeloading benefit street crowd).<br />
<br />
I just hope that Mr Scobie also considers why we the public are handing he and his co councillors not inconsiderable sums of money for showing up at the council meetings. I note that Will has some success as a canvasser for Labour, I wonder if he's considered a job in Sales?<br />
<br />
Still just for <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuition_fees_in_the_United_Kingdom">Scobie here's a link</a>, may I suggest if Scobie wishes to get elected he visits his parties past before he puts his foot in his mouth again. Should we be stupid enough to vote him in, at least he wont be bumping into comrade Blunkett the man responsible for his student loans, since he's leaving Westminster before the moaning Scobie generation arrive.Margate Blokehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00080094594178633947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283374124148998952.post-87393244399515951182014-05-28T21:12:00.001+01:002014-05-28T21:12:14.582+01:00Sudan an example of sharia law<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

None of us know everything, but hidden inside my newspaper today were details of a Christian women condemned to death for marrying a Christian man by a rather barbaric sharia legal system operated in Sudan.<br />
<br />
Who understands what motivates Muslims to think it lawful to murder a women with a young child or sentence her to a hundred lashes.<br />
<br />
I'm not a Muslim myself but I know some, I never question their belief but I will now.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-27586067">For impartial details click here</a>, which I'm sure will enlighten you, I don't for a second think all Muslims are evil but clearly those murdering a young mother and wife are.<br />

As I wrote this a BBC news report of a murder of a young women on the streets of Pakistan plays in the background. An honour killing? <br />
Still as one who supports the idea of a collaborative Europe the reality since the 1970's has resulted in the lost of UK sovereignty, not something that was accepted or part of sales pitch at the time of this country joining.<br />
<br />
In reality few if any benefits have accrued to this country by EU membership, in fact having subbed poorer countries like Ireland etc. and funded <a href="https://www.taxpayersalliance.com/eu/2013/11/eu-wastes-6-billion-2012.html">multi billion Euro fraud </a>I guess we've lost out.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7o7cDC4Jbtg/UwhhdHhB8TI/AAAAAAAAAEo/9TNn-URdVRI/s1600/euface.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7o7cDC4Jbtg/UwhhdHhB8TI/AAAAAAAAAEo/9TNn-URdVRI/s1600/euface.JPG" height="182" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">EU</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
What have we got, well a poorer health service oversubscribed and getting worse, our children and grandchildren have to share scant resources with non English speakers, those in traditional manufacturing, agriculture and construction jobs have been priced out by cheap easily exploited labour.<br />
<br />
With no border control, we haven't a clue who or what sort of people are in this country, not even the the three men described as dark European in this <a href="http://www.thanetgazette.co.uk/Police-release-efit-man-robbed/story-20659539-detail/story.html">report in the Gazette</a>, is this exceptional I don't know, is it a coincidence that I interrupted men of a similar description a few weeks ago trying to force a door open.<br />
<br />
For those sensitive types, I stress that the majority of non British people I meet are law abiding hard workers, but maybe we could ask that those taking up residence in this country, have to go on an induction course, in which we could point out certain things we take for granted, such as free speech, equality something not understood by many and lets be honest some communities still think its OK to abuse women.<br />
<br />
Finally this is my own view which is similar to most I encounter, and it is certainly not representing any political party, since it is fair to say that no political party other than UKIP allow free thinking on Europe.<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kGNFgRW6Hls/Ut5duLe56LI/AAAAAAAAAEY/VEsBtLPlHcc/s1600/Farage+attack.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kGNFgRW6Hls/Ut5duLe56LI/AAAAAAAAAEY/VEsBtLPlHcc/s1600/Farage+attack.JPG" height="174" width="320" /></a></div>
If nothing else UKIP continue, to emote strong reactions, for no other reason than they dare to articulate genuine fears of the public regarding Europe with reason and cold facts, which mainstream parties the Conservative, Labour & Liberal Democrats cravenly avoid.<br />
<br />
Therefore it was no surprise that Thanet's apparent loose alliance of lefties were out to cause trouble as Nigel Farage, the leader of UKIP arrived for a meeting in Margate, admittedly it appears from the television pictures to have been a rather miserable turnout, of I suspect Socialist Workers ( a misnomer usually people awkward in company and on benefits!) and animal welfare activists whom generally have a great capacity than normal for harming members of their own species.<br />
<br />
As you might expect Thanet's guardian of all things left, Cllr Ian Driver always rational had this to say <a href="http://thanetgreencouncillor.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/farage-thanet-fury-wheels-falling-off.html">on his blog</a> about the sorry group of thugs and legitimate protesters, "Some very angry people were there." his piece started off, in restrained manner, "I guess it was inevitable things would kick off." he quickly added "UKIP seem to be upsetting everyone. " (what by quietly holding a meeting in a hotel?) ignoring the obvious violence and hostility of those he seems so supportive.<br />
<br />
I don't doubt criticism of migration policy within Europe makes us all feel uncomfortable, however there has to be a finite number of people this country can absorb, when someone can explain the benefit of British children attending schools outnumber by non English speakers, overwhelmed health services etcetera then I shall buy into the Euro Dream.<br />
<br />
As far as I'm concerned Nigel Farage is welcome to visit Thanet anytime he likes, and unlike some of our guests, I doubt he'll need anyone to remind him, that not only is it bad manners to attempt to break into a vehicle in broad daylight but against the law, as was the behaviour of those he <a href="http://thanetgreencouncillor.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/farage-thanet-fury-wheels-falling-off.html">filmed </a>by Ian Driver.<br />
<br />
Perhaps, Cllr Ian Driver could one day be the Green Party's <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2542179/UKIP-councillor-says-God-sent-storms-battered-Britain-David-Cameron-allowed-gay-marriage-legalised.html">Cllr David Silvester</a><br />
<br />
PS I noticed that BBC South East lackeys of the establishment, seemed to spend more time dishing up anti UKIP dirt than honest when reporting this attack by Thanet thugs.<br />

Spotted in the above Area two gentlemen trying vehicle door handles, both looked Southern European one pushing a sack barrow this afternoon.<br />
<br />
No doubt there is a plausible explanation, but I for having been robbed on more than one occasion I'm getting a little tired.<br />
<br />
I suggest anyone who lives in Cliftonville or Dane valley needs to be more vigilant than ever.<br />
<br />
Northdown road is more like the wild West everyday, and as much as I celebrate the rich diversity of our area, perhaps new residents ought to be given a briefing on local customs, it seems in some cultures house breaking and theft from vehicles is the norm.Margate Blokehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00080094594178633947noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8283374124148998952.post-37918245931343170012013-12-22T23:42:00.003+00:002013-12-22T23:42:49.153+00:00Stop bringing Thanet down - TransEuropa a wise investment<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Is it just me but I for one am sick and tired of local critics, constantly criticising councillors Clive Hart, Rick Everett, Bob Bayford and Martin Wise for simply allowing the bankrupt TransEuropa ferries to run up a three million pound unsecured debt. I'm sure that an esteemed organisation as the Isle of Thanet Gazette, would not <a href="http://www.thanetgazette.co.uk/Council-believes-correct-allow-TransEuropa-build/story-20348039-detail/story.html">publish this article</a> if Thanet council were not acting in an upright and open manner.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ian Driver (always the victim) another local councillor<a href="http://thanetgreencouncillor.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/transeuropa-ferries-scandal-councillor.html"> is bleating just because he faces the threat of gaol</a>, should he dare to publish a secret report detailing Thanet council shenanigans concerning TransEuropa, who cares its only money chaps. Are we really supposed to believe councillors have been reckless in loaning millions without seeking and credit references or guarantees.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leave Thanet Council alone its Christmas. As if Labour and Tory would collaborate to cover their arses.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Sorry for the interruption, since my last posting in May, but the doctors say the medication is now working and I can return to the community.</div>

As you might imagine having found my home broken into and finding myself weighing up the damage in a rare slice of leisure time, it would be fair to say I'm depressed.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Still being in a morose mood I though what in Thanet would lift my spirits, apart from low life druggies, scroungers etcetera being exiled to somewhere else.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
And it's this, the little oasis in Margate, Turner Contemporary, which currently is showing the work of <a href="http://www.turnercontemporary.org/exhibitions/alex-katz">Alex Katz</a>, bold bright pictures, marvelous. </div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
A real improvement on the previous exhibition of Tracy Emin, which consisted of drab sketches, I could go on but frankly you'd have had to have seen it to appreciate how grim it was, still recall those primitive drawings which used to decorate public conveniences and you're almost there.</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2xLkSgUhhM8/ULp05WnqcQI/AAAAAAAAACU/RgSCu8iIf4U/s1600/1354390537757.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2xLkSgUhhM8/ULp05WnqcQI/AAAAAAAAACU/RgSCu8iIf4U/s320/1354390537757.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div dir="ltr">
The Gazette has a story this week about another shake up in Thanet Labour, Clive Hart 's record as leader of the council has been to be kind, mediocre, so far it seems to me that the lamentable administration has staggered behind the independents.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Notably councillor Ian Driver, happy enough to be elected as a member of the Labour party but exercising the good judgement not to be led by Cllr Hart and content to run rings around the hapless mishmash that is the Labour group.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
This week is dominated by one of Drivers campaign's the obnoxious business of transport of sheep from Ramsgate harbour, good call really, this actually is one of those things nobody would miss should </div>
<div dir="ltr">
campaigners succeed.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Much of this year, that being the time Labour's headed the council (I should of course say controlled the council but that would be to overstate their competence), it looks like Driver has also been setting the agenda, the summer saw all that " gay" stuff, the ridiculous debate over gay marriage hardly relevant to local government, all kinds of unpleasantness at the time, not least homophobia from Labour and Tory and perhaps more offensive the suggestion of "hate crime" a modern day sledgehammer to curb independent thinking from local zealots.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Anyway so what has Labour achieved in a year, well little if you ask me, council tax is going to rise, low paid council workers are to have pay cuts and council bosses, well you know the score, as for Clive Hart who cares.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Things that need addressing in Thanet are the always declining economy, increasing crime, social deprivation and in recent years the increasing burden of a transient population in Margate, can Labour do anything not likely on past evidence.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I know some people get a little fussy about, running down locals or even down from London types but Lord knows there are some scum bags here in Thanet.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
I realise that this is no way to open a blog posting but then you'll have to blame the low life, who uninvited helped himself to various items belonging to myself Margate Bloke, and family, including the means of production for this blog.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
The start of the week, posting was to have been a bit on Kent police, and or commissioners, which as you might expect would have had a different flavour, all I can say is how reassuring, professional and efficient the police have been.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Yes I know that the criminal, was probably a hopeless victim of circumstance, either a typical drug addict or work shy welfare claimant, but part of me hopes that one day this crook has some misfortune at least experience the equivalent of the misery caused to his victims and hopefully much worse.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Any way when I get myself sorted out, I shall continue, perhaps on the topic of scum, that being the British Press and outrageous reaction from Cameron and Tories eager to suck up once again, no doubt with their pals at Murdoch's News international.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
If only the victims of press could put some of these revolting press barons out of business for ruthlessly attacking vulnerable people knowing that they cannot answer back in any meaningful way.</div>

Maybe there is hope for us all, just a thought having picked up on the Rolling Stones fiftieth anniversary.<br />
<br />
I remember a while back that Kent on Sunday newspaper ran, a who is the greatest person to have been associated with Kent type feature, I cannot remember who won or even those on the running, but my choice would have been Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.<br />
<br />
Music of course is personal choice but even so, what joy to hear some old boys, making after fifty years, a marvelous noise, with this track, Doom & Gloom. Enjoy but please note this contains "adult themes" <a href="http://youtu.be/rPFGWVKXxm0">so children please select this version</a>.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-57xiC1gfJB8/UK_jfieKP5I/AAAAAAAAAB8/wZLEsZ5VWc8/s1600/drink+fuewled+blogging.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-57xiC1gfJB8/UK_jfieKP5I/AAAAAAAAAB8/wZLEsZ5VWc8/s320/drink+fuewled+blogging.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">In our democracy, ordinary people sometimes, get elected to political office, in fact I'm sure that most elected politicians were once normal, so why do we need to have highlighted minor indiscretions.</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Let's hope this doesn't become one of those topics that gets out of hand, as appeared to be the case when Thanet Labour's hate crime police, got excitable over another tory councillor's crime, earlier in the year, ignoring a labour colleague's similar homophobia.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Please note this has post has been fueled by alcohol, although please note I'm not driving at the same time.</span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">The anniversary of President John Kennedy death 22/11/1963 prompted this thought, the most shocking aspect, of the murder was the knowledge even the most powerful can not be immune, from violent lunatics.</span><div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><span style="font-family: Tahoma;">My memory is vivid, and enhanced and embellished over the years (49) by documentaries offering all kinds of theories and detail, for me as a child I recall the sudden sombre atmosphere that enveloped the older members of the family on Friday evening not too long after tea.</span></span><div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YJyxRE_X6JI/UK6lON-6dDI/AAAAAAAAABs/vLC0IPKvogg/s1600/assins.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YJyxRE_X6JI/UK6lON-6dDI/AAAAAAAAABs/vLC0IPKvogg/s320/assins.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">More than half a life time ago, and what has changed, well life is in colour, the news of that assassination, came black and white, courtesy of a "news flash", I'm not going to explain to those of you born or grown up in the rolling news era.</span><div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">Today we live in a more enlightened time, back in the sixties till, Lee Harvey Oswald, changed the course of history, anything was possible, now with rolling news we sit passively in front of our big tellys, while journalists, with no emotion, inform us of surgical strikes in which political foes are routine despatched by pilot-less drones on the behest of the United States or as we've seen more recently Israel fileting what goes for the government of Gaza.</span><div style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Tahoma; text-align: -webkit-auto;">Whatever the rights and wrongs of the middle east, surely Palestinians deserve better than the arbitrary murder and the disproportionate attacks, and the attempted murder of Hamas leaders, by Israeli leadership.</span></div>

Insane surely, comments from the animal health and veterinary agency, part of DEFRA , charged with safeguarding animal health and welfare, to claim that sheep subject to stormy seas, in what appears to have been a nightmare journey, are quoted as satisfied with arrangements and content that there are no welfare issues.<br />
<br />

<br />
Come off it, sheep farmers, don't try and convince us that this trade is in anyway acceptable.<br />

<p dir="ltr">Thanet council have signed a memorandum of understanding with Thanet and East Kent chamber? of commerce, I presume, this will encourage consultation between the local authority and business on matters of commerce, we are told.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Still it seems as though this will herald a U turn in Labour policy, since God knows in recent times Labour had been positively hostile to business queering the pitch for Manston airport, and squeezing tax payers with recently announced tax hikes.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Labour leader Cllr Clive Hart, sounds pleased " supporting the local economy through job creation..., so far Clive's Labour party looks to have, had a tenuous link with the workplace, however miracles do happen, good luck all round.</p>

A letter of congratulations and best wishes might fit the bill, whatever reservations you might have for the somewhat extraordinary experiment in policing, the police and crime commissioner elections.<br />
<br />
Still that would be normal not however for local hero of the left, Cllr Driver a person whom had himself expressed an interest in the post, was apparently to be found outside Kent police headquarters on Saturday, demonstrating with animal rights protesters requesting that the newly elected police commissioner lift protest restrictions.<br />
<br />
All well and good but thank God Driver failed in his bid to get elected since part of his losing bid for the post, included demands for liberalisation of drugs and prostitution laws, just imagine the protests had he won, from those whose nearest and dearest had been lost to drugs and more disturbing people trafficking common in the sex trade.<br />
<br />
Thank God we got Anne Barnes and not Driver.<br />

<p dir="ltr">Thanet councillors fight and squabble over trivia, Labour's main achievements over the last year apart from focusing we the public s attention on the abysmal leadership seem to have indulged God knows how much time on sexual politics, as if apart from a handful of excitable councillors anyone gives a toss.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Oh, and as if that is not enough Labour have agreed to allow low paid staff, to receive a pay cut and all of us to pay more in council tax to allow pay increases to council fat cats, well done Clive!</p>
